10 most popular traditional Australian foods

We combed the country for the best dishes that we can (kind of) call our own. Is this our only warning? You may not want to read this when hungry. Learn about some of Australia’s most popular and traditional foods, as well as where to try them.
1. Chicken Parmigiana.
This iconic Australian chicken dish, with roots in Italian-American cookery, is a fixture on many pub menus around the country. Whether you call it a parmi/parmy or a parma (but never a parmo), there is a lot of controversy about where to get the greatest parmigiana in Australia.

The Corner Hotel in Alexandra, Victoria, is a candidate for the holy trinity of size, quality, toppings, and chips. This hotel, which dates back to the gold rush era, serves award-winning parmas, uses free-range hens, and has a house secret crumb. Those interested in experiencing this sensation will find eight selections, ranging from conventional Australian to vindaloo and the double banger.

2. Barbecued snags (or sausages)
It’s no surprise that Australians enjoy grilling, and nothing is more crucial to a good barbecue than a nice sausage, whether you’re at a friend’s house or at your local Bunnings for a sausage sizzle. Traditional Australian sausages are normally made with pork or beef, but if you’re feeling experimental, you can try other animals. Wrap a slice of bread around your snag, then top with fried onions and your favorite sauce.

According to the Australian Meat Industry Council’s Sausage King competition, Nowra, NSW, has the greatest beef snags, while Mawson, ACT, has the best pig bangers.

3. Lamingtons The National Trust of Queensland named Lamington the ‘National Cake of Australia’, recognizing it as an iconic dessert. It is named after Lord Lamington, a former Governor of Queensland who reputedly had a sweet appetite.

The lamington is a simple square-shaped sponge dipped in chocolate and coated with desiccated coconut. Other varieties include two layers with a cream or jam filling, which many consider to be an essential ingredient. They go well with a cup of bush tea or one of Melbourne’s world-famous coffees, and can be found in any decent bakeries and cafes.

Although the cake is considered to have originated in Toowoomba, its national popularity has spread to cities around Australia. Flour

4. A burger with ‘the lot’
If tomato, lettuce, onions, and a succulent meat patty aren’t enough, consider the Aussie gut-buster with ‘the lot’. Fill a burger bun with barbecued meat, salad, and sauce, then for an Australian twist, add a slice of pineapple, pickled beetroot, and a fried egg. The ideal Australian cuisine after a long day of surfing or lazing on the beach.

Every city, or even suburb, claims to offer the best burgers in Australia, so determining the best is difficult. Easey’s in Collingwood, Victoria, is a pub and grill that consistently wins honors for its Australian ethnic cuisine.
