A highly sought-after 4-star recruit, coveted by both the Tennessee Vols and the Georgia Bulldogs, has announced the date for revealing their commitment.
For the past few months, the Tennessee Vols have been widely expected to secure the commitment of 2025 four-star
safety Lagonza Hayward. However, following a significant weekend visit to Athens, it’s no longer guaranteed that Hayward will choose to join the Vols.
Hayward, ranked as the No. 6 safety in the nation by 247Sports, recently visited Georgia, and reports indicate that
the trip was highly successful. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 200 pounds, the defensive back stated to
On3 that the Bulldogs have significantly impressed him and have now elevated their position on his list of preferred schools.
Alabama, Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, and USC are also contenders for Hayward’s commitment. However, at present, the primary contenders seem to be Georgia and Tennessee.
Hayward disclosed to On3 on Monday evening that he intends to announce his commitment on August 7.
Although Georgia has gained momentum following a significant weekend visit, the Vols remain a program that holds considerable appeal for Hayward.
“In my initial visit to Tennessee, I sensed that it could be the right fit for me,” Hayward expressed to On3. “The community is fantastic, and the energy is truly electrifying.”
Hayward is scheduled to make his final official visit to Tennessee on June 21 before making his decision in early
August. This visit could potentially strengthen the Vols’ position and secure victory in what has become an increasingly intriguing recruiting competition.
