Max Verstappen is concerned about how his practice vehicle problems may affect his performance for the remainder of the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend.
Due to the heavy rain in Montreal on Friday, all drivers’ operations were suspended. Verstappen, however, spent even less time off the track than his competitors since he had to return to the pits early in the second session due to an electrical issue with his vehicle.
Red Bull acknowledged that the early termination of the driver’s session was due to an issue with the energy recovery system of the vehicle. For the remainder of this weekend, the impacted components have been swapped out and shipped back to the UK for examination at the team’s Milton Keynes headquarters.
The Dutchman is more concerned about the potential consequences of his issue for the remainder of his weekend and beyond than he is about his lack of track time. He also hopes that his Red Bull staff can discover the solutions as quickly as possible.
“Unfortunately, I didn’t get many laps in FP2,” he stated. They instructed me to box since there seems to be a possible electrical problem, and they are now looking into it. It’s not the best situation. Granted, I would have preferred to do more laps, and a few others would have preferred to complete a few more in the dry and a few more in the wet.
“So, it’s certainly not how I had hoped to go in FP2. However, I believe it’s more crucial to just ascertain what occurred and the consequences that it may have for this weekend and the remainder of the year.”
