Tragic News: Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Joshua Williams has been hospitalized due to severe effects from extreme cold weather, according to NFL media reports.

What the Chiefs and Texans Are Saying About the Expected Cold Weather for KC Playoff Game

Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Joshua Williams says he strives to keep external factors, like the weather, from impacting his performance.

That resolve was put to the test during one game last season: a playoff victory against the Miami Dolphins at Arrowhead Stadium, where the temperature plunged to minus-4 degrees with a wind chill of 27 below.

“Your eyes start tearing up, and the tears freeze,” Williams said with a smile during an interview with The Star on Wednesday. “It’s hard to ignore that.”

Despite the frigid conditions, the Chiefs rallied together, securing a dominant 26-7 win over their opponents from sunny South Florida.

Now, with cold weather expected for Saturday’s home playoff game against the Houston Texans, many wonder if the Chiefs can gain a similar advantage against another warm-weather team unaccustomed to such conditions.

Reflecting on last year’s game, Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal called it excellent preparation. “We’re used to that kind of weather,” Chenal said. “Any weather now, it’s like, ‘OK, it’ll affect us a little.’ But hopefully, we can draw on that experience and say, ‘We’ve been through worse. We’ll handle this.’”
