Shohei Ohtani has committed to donating $500,000 to support those affected by the recent fires in Los Angeles County.
The Los Angeles Dodgers star shared the announcement on social media, expressing his desire to assist the firefighters working on the frontlines.
“Our hearts go out to all the firefighters who continue to fight for us during the fires in LA,” his post read, partially translated into English.
Ohtani also highlighted the collaboration between the Dodgers and Fanatics, who are selling “LA Strong” t-shirts with a portion of the proceeds going towards fire relief efforts.
The Dodgers are part of a group of LA-based sports teams that have pledged a combined $8 million for fire relief. Other teams involved include Angel City FC, the Angels, Chargers, Clippers, Ducks, Galaxy, Kings, LAFC, Lakers, Rams, and Sparks.
