Montreal — At the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic track and field trials on Thursday night, Mo Ahmed emerged victorious in the men’s 5,000-meter event while Gabriela Debues-Stafford took first place in the women’s 5K competition.
Ahmed, a four-time Olympian from St. Catharines, Ontario, completed the course at the Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard in 13 minutes and 10.99 seconds.
DeBues-Stafford, a London, Ontario native, won in 15:33.50.
Ceili McCabe of Vancouver had earlier secured her place at the Games in Paris, France, by finishing first in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase final (9:32.97).
