Good news for North Carolina Tar Heels: Hubert Davis has just sign his dream player..

Former Transfer Target for UNC Basketball Agrees to Attend Big 12 University.

With its present roster, UNC basketball is likely set, albeit with the hopes that a few frontcourt players will take on bigger responsibilities.

Former Belmont wing Cade Tyson and Vanderbilt forward Ven-Allen Lubin, both full-time players and double-digit scorers for their respective teams, were two strong transfers that the UNC basketball staff was happy to get.

With 11 scholarship players available, it appears Hubert Davis and his Tar Heels are OK with their current lineup. After arriving in Lubin two weeks ago, they seemed to let up on the gas in a couple of instances.

One target was Ugonna Onyenso, a talented 7-footer from Nigeria who spent two years as a center for Kentucky and finished third in the SEC last season with 66 blocks. During certain points of Onyenso’s recruitment, prior to Lubin committing to the Tar Heels, there was speculation that UNC was the front-runner.

Days after he withdrew his name from the NBA Draft, Kansas State hosted him for a visit earlier this week as part of their continued pursuit and growth. Additionally, Ugonna Onyenso made a Tuesday commitment to Jerome Tang and his Wildcats, according to the article that follows from Joe Tipton of On3.

The starting lineup for UNC basketball’s frontcourt for the upcoming season features three returning reserve forwards in fifth-year Jae’Lyn Withers, junior Jalen Washington, and sophomore Zayden High, as well as four new Tar Heels in Ven-Allen Lubin, junior Cade Tyson, five-star freshman forward Drake Powell, and four-star freshman big man James Brown. In the meantime, the team boasts arguably the best backcourt in the country.
