BYU assistant coach Cody Fueger is slated to join Mark Pope’s Kentucky staff.
Mark Pope has begun to fill up his coaching staff, and the first name to appear is one of his assistant coaches at BYU.
Kentucky head coach Mark Pope has begun to assemble his coaching staff, and while no formal announcement will be made until next week, a name has emerged as the first assistant to join Pope.
According to KSR’s Matt Jones, Cody Fueger, a BYU assistant coach, will join Pope at Kentucky.
“I can confirm that former BYU Coach Cody Fueger will be one of Mark Pope’s three recruiting assistants and first member of staff,” Jones said in a statement. “He has also been talking to recruits today on behalf of Kentucky.”
Fueger has worked with Pope since 2013, when he was the Director of Basketball Operations at BYU, where Pope was an assistant coach.
Fueger subsequently accompanied Pope to Utah Valley State, then returned to BYU, where he has been since 2019.
For the past few seasons, Fueger has been regarded as one of Division I basketball’s most promising coaches. He was also recognized one of the most influential mid major assistant coaches in Division I by Silver Waves Media in both 2022 and 2023.
Fueger has helped develop some outstanding All-Conference players, including Alex Barcello, Dallin Hall, and Jaxson Robinson.
