Karishma Ramharack shines in West Indies’ exciting victory against Pakistan in the first Women’s T20I.

The first T20I of the West Indies women’s tour to Pakistan 2024 took place at the National Stadium, with West Indies Women electing to bat after winning the toss. In a highly contested encounter, West Indies Women won by the narrowest of margins, defeating Pakistan Women by one run.

Batting first, the West Indies Women scored 122/9 in their allocated 20 overs. Hayley Matthews went early for a duck, but Qiana Joseph’s 34-run knock, along with contributions from Stafanie Taylor (30) and Chinelle Henry (13), boosted their innings. However, the Pakistani bowlers performed admirably, with Sadia Iqbal (2 wickets for 23 runs) and Fatima Sana (3 wickets for 24 runs) spearheading the assault.

In response, Pakistan Women pursued the goal with passion but came agonizingly short, finishing at 121/8 in 20 overs. Sidra Ameen (23) and Nida Dar (27) stabilized the batting, but the West Indies Women’s disciplined bowling effort, highlighted by Karishma Ramharack’s remarkable spell of four wickets for 15 runs, was pivotal.

Despite Pakistan’s heroic efforts, they were unable to cross the finish line, and West Indies Women won by the closest margin. Ramharack’s outstanding bowling performance won her the well-deserved Player of the Match title for her significant contributions to her team’s victory.
