CHICAGO – Concluding their offseason program, the Chicago Bears engaged in a light rookies-only practice on Wednesday.

Reflecting on his inaugural NFL offseason program, rookie quarterback Caleb Williams emphasized the significance of building connections with his teammates. He stressed the importance of camaraderie in fostering a successful team environment.

“There’s a shift in mentality,” Williams explained. “When you’re playing for each other rather than just for yourself, everything changes. Establishing a bond not only among the eleven players on the field but also extending to the defensive lineup and subsequent rotations is crucial. It’s from this connection that something truly special can emerge at the end of the season—a bond forged on love and trust for your teammates.”

Both Williams and rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze shared their plans for self-improvement in the weeks leading up to training camp. Odunze intends to physically walk through playbook routes and enlist the help of his parents for support.

“When I return to Vegas, my mom will be braving the scorching 115-degree heat,” Odunze remarked. “She understands, though. It’s all love. They want what’s best for me, even if it means enduring challenging conditions. I don’t get to visit home too frequently.”

What the players will do with their upcoming few weeks off was also discussed. Williams stated that he is working with veteran receiver Keenan Allen to schedule a time when a whole group—not just the offensive guys—can train together outside of the facility.

They expect to start camp in less than a month, so they want defensive people there because, as he mentioned, it’s also about bonding.
