Everybody was checking their phone on the night of May 29th to see if Jaxson Robinson would stay in the NBA Draft or return to college.
But once the clock struck midnight, there was no announcement, and many wondered if Robinson had stayed in the NBA Draft.
Flash-forward to around noon on May 30th, when Jeff Borzello announced on Twitter that Robinson would return to college and play for the Kentucky Wildcats under Mark Pope.
When it came down to deciding on whether he would return to college or stay in the NBA Draft, he always knew he would come to Kentucky if he decided to go the former route.
“Before anything had happened with the NBA, I already knew if I had come back to college, this is where I’d be,” Robinson told KSR’s Jack Pilgrim. “Me and Coach Pope were super close, that’s my guy, so I’m excited to be here.”
Now with Robinson finally being able to put on a Kentucky jersey, he understands what a surreal moment it is for him.
“It’s exciting. I grew up looking up to Kentucky, it’s crazy seeing everything and experiencing this whole environment,” Robinson told KSR. “Putting the Kentucky jersey on, it’s surreal. It’s something you can’t really make up, to be honest with you. I’m excited.”
With Robinson now added to the roster, Kentucky has a true go-to offensive player they can rely on in Year 1 of the Mark Pope era.
