JETS OFFSEASON TRADE MOVE: New York Jets Release Three Players Including Two Wide Receivers and Linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo, While Inking No. 7 Pick Armand Membou to Four-Year, $31.9 Million Rookie Deal

In a busy and strategic offseason move, the New York Jets have shaken up their roster by parting ways with three players—linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo and wide receivers Easop Winston and Marcus Riley. The decision to release the trio signals a shift in focus for the Jets as they retool their roster for the upcoming season, aiming to bring in new talent while creating flexibility for emerging prospects. The move comes just as the team finalized a major rookie signing, officially announcing the acquisition of No. 7 overall draft pick Armand Membou.

Membou, a Missouri native and standout offensive tackle, has agreed to terms on a four-year rookie contract worth $31.9 million. The deal includes a fully guaranteed salary and a substantial signing bonus, securing one of the most promising young linemen in this year’s draft class. Known for his athleticism, power, and versatility, Membou is expected to compete for a starting role immediately, adding much-needed depth and stability to the Jets’ offensive line—an area of concern in recent seasons.

“We’re excited to welcome Armand Membou to the New York Jets,” said General Manager Joe Douglas in a team statement. “He brings a tough, smart, and physical style of play that fits the culture we’re building. His presence will be felt early and often.”

Meanwhile, the release of Easop Winston and Marcus Riley closes the door on their brief stints with the team. Both wide receivers struggled to stand out in a crowded and competitive position group. Linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo, who joined the team as an undrafted free agent, was also cut as part of the team’s defensive restructuring.

Though these roster moves are relatively routine, they send a clear message: the Jets are focused on building around their core draft picks and emerging stars, while trimming away players who may not fit the long-term plan.

With training camp on the horizon and expectations rising for head coach Robert Saleh and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, these offseason adjustments highlight the Jets’ determination to contend. The addition of Armand Membou, in particular, represents a cornerstone investment in protecting their franchise quarterback and fortifying the trenches for years to come.
