East Carolina women’s basketball coach Kim McNeill announced the hire of two members to her staff for the upcoming season. Jason Harris was hired as an assistant coach and Aniyah Sneed was hired as the team’s director of operations. Harris comes from the Atlantic Collegiate Academy while Sneed changed titles from her previous position at ECU as assistant director for premium seating operations and special events in the Pirate Club. The hires helped fill some vacancies that appeared in the offseason, most notably the exit of assistant coach Cory McNeill, Kim McNeill’s husband, who joined the North Carolina Tar Heels women’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in May.

Cory McNeill spent five years at ECU as an assistant coach and became highly sought after due to his role in the Pirates’ resurgence, which included winning a conference championship and making an appearance in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Jason Harris has a diverse background in basketball, having coached at both the prep and college levels. Before becoming head coach at Atlantic Collegiate Academy, Harris served as an assistant under Nate James at Austin Peay. He also coached with the women’s program at N.C. Central, where he was responsible for recruiting.

Kim McNeill expressed excitement about Harris joining their team, noting his eagerness and experience across various levels of the game. Harris’s expertise in player development was particularly appealing to her, and she believes he will contribute significantly to the program’s growth on and off the court.

Prior to coaching in college, Harris had a successful tenure in high school basketball, earning recognition as the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2015 at Bishop Ireton High School. He graduated from Fordham University in 2001 with a sociology degree and played professionally in France before being named to the A-10 25th Anniversary Team in 2021.

Sneed has joined the women’s basketball staff after starting at the Pirate Club in August 2023. Her responsibilities included managing premium seating areas during football season and hospitality areas during men’s basketball games. She graduated from ECU in 2023 with a sports studies degree and psychology minor, currently pursuing a master’s in athletic administration at N.C. Central. Sneed, a Greenville native, also coaches softball at J.H. Rose High School.
