Baseball in Georgia gains strength through gateway commits Ryland Zaborowski and Charlie Jones

Georgia baseball and coach Wes Johnson continue to bolster their roster with the addition of two new players via the transfer portal: Charlie Jones from Air Force and Ryland Zaborowski from Miami (OH).

Jones, a native of Cumming, Georgia, is known for his ability to consistently get on base and his impressive batting stats from the 2024 season reflect this. He boasts a .344 batting average, a formidable 1.097 OPS, and a solid .415 on-base percentage. Additionally, Jones packs power in his swing, evidenced by his 13 home runs for Air Force. Defensively, Jones is reliable, committing just four errors in 40 games played. It’s worth noting that Jones has a connection with Georgia’s All-American, Charlie Condon, having played together at East Cobb, as reported by Anthony Dasher of UGASports.com.

Zaborowski, despite a slight dip in his power numbers in the 2024 season, remains a potent offensive threat with a .305 batting average and a .421 on-base percentage. While his defensive performance declined slightly in 2024, there’s optimism that training with Brock Bennett and Josh Simpson will help improve his fielding.

These additions follow the recent acquisitions of Davis Chastain from Georgia State, Knox Bennett from Chipola, and Ryan Black from Texas-Arlington. With several seniors departing from the lineup, Jones and Zaborowski will play crucial roles in filling the void and maintaining Georgia’s offensive prowess.
