JUST IN: Phillies Legend Steve Carlton Signs $5.5 Million Deal With Netflix for Seven-Episode Series Chronicling His Iconic Journey in Philadelphia

In a monumental announcement that has thrilled baseball fans across the nation, Philadelphia Phillies Hall of Famer Steve Carlton has signed a $5.5 million deal with Netflix to produce a seven-episode docuseries chronicling his legendary career with the Phillies. The project, set to begin production later this year, will provide an in-depth, never-before-seen look into the life and legacy of one of the greatest pitchers in Major League Baseball history.

Titled “Lefty: The Steve Carlton Story,” the series will explore Carlton’s remarkable journey from a young, fiery talent to a Phillies icon, featuring exclusive interviews, archival footage, and dramatic recreations of some of his most defining moments on the mound. The episodes will trace his rise through the ranks, his historic 1972 season where he won 27 of the Phillies’ 59 total wins, his fierce competitiveness, and his quiet but commanding presence that made him one of the most respected—and feared—pitchers of his era.

Netflix executives called the project a “celebration of baseball excellence and personal grit.” “Steve Carlton is more than a Hall of Famer—he’s a symbol of what it means to dominate quietly and inspire endlessly,” said Amanda Price, Head of Sports Originals at Netflix. “We’re honored to bring his incredible story to the screen.”

Carlton, a four-time Cy Young Award winner and 10-time All-Star, spent 15 seasons with the Phillies and helped deliver the franchise’s first World Series title in 1980. He finished his career with 329 wins, 4,136 strikeouts, and a reputation as one of the most consistent and commanding left-handers to ever play the game.

In a rare public statement, Carlton said, “I’ve always let my pitching speak for me, but I believe the time is right to share the full story—what drove me, what challenged me, and what it meant to wear the Phillies uniform.”

The series is expected to premiere in early 2026 and will serve as both an emotional tribute to a baseball legend and a rich, detailed history lesson for younger generations of fans. For Phillies faithful and baseball purists alike, “Lefty” promises to be a grand slam celebration of greatness.
