Mark Pope went above and beyond to land Andrew Carr
Pope drove to Nashville himself to bring the Carr family to Lexington.
Mark Pope and his staff continue to construct the Kentucky Wildcats’ 2024-25 basketball roster.
Pope has not slowed down his recruiting efforts in any way since arriving to Lexington and he has quite some stories over the past few weeks.
Pope is a Kentucky basketball lover through and through, and the effort he has put into recruiting has supported that.
The Athletic’s Kyle Tucker chatted with Kentucky commit Andrew Carr’s family after their visit to Lexington…
According to Tucker, the Carrs were coming from a visit at Texas Tech to Kentucky but missed their flight to Lexington. The family ended up in Nashville and rented a car to Lexington. Pope heard about the situation, got in his own car, and drove down to Nashville to pick the family up himself.
Pope ended up grabbing the Carr family in Bowling Green late that night… Keep in mind Pope had just gotten back from Las Vegas earlier that day.
Tucker says Pope dropped the Carr family off at their hotel in Lexington at 4 A.M.
This is a pretty fantastic story and should have Kentucky fans thrilled about the hire and proud of how much work Pope has put in since arriving in Lexington.
