Deion Sanders Expresses Interest in Cowboys Head Coaching Role
Deion Sanders subtly hinted at his interest in becoming the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys through social media on Thursday. Sanders has reportedly been in contact with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones about the vacant coaching position. Although their discussion was preliminary, the possibility of Sanders leaving Colorado for Dallas is gaining momentum.
Veteran Cowboys reporter Ed Werder shared on X, “I’m being told that Deion Sanders would almost certainly accept if Jerry Jones offers him the head coaching job. Those close to him are encouraging him to pursue it, and Jones is intrigued by the idea.”
Amid the speculation, Sanders reposted a clip from the “KG Certified” show featuring Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce on his Instagram. In the clip, Garnett says, “You have to do that, right?” in reference to Sanders and the Cowboys job. Pierce adds, “They need him in the worst way. He’s the only one who could go there.” Garnett concludes, “This is like a player, coming from the culture who helped build the culture. No better situation, bro. Deion, we hope you get that, boy. Straight up. I’m not even a Cowboys fan. I’m a Deion fan.”
While Sanders is a prominent name in the mix, the Cowboys are also considering other candidates, including former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh, Seattle Seahawks coordinator Leslie Frazier, and Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.
