Tamale, an outside back for the St George Illawarra Dragons, is not under contract at the end of the season but has been a highlight for the team in the NSW Cup.
Despite being hailed as the Dragons’ outside back of the future, he has had difficulty making an impression on the first-grade team and has been passed over in favor of players like Christian Tuipulotu.
Tamale was a part of the NSW Waratahs Under-18s squad prior to playing rugby league. He was plucked from the 15-man game, but he has since been linked to a number of other sides in the league.
The Canberra Times reports that teenage center Savelio Tamale of the Dragons has reached an agreement to sign a two-year deal with the Canberra Raiders.
The new contract will see him join his 2023 U19s NSW Blues teammates Ethan Strange, Chevy Stewart, and Ethan Sanders on the Raiders Top 30 squad for the next season. He had been linked to a possible move to the Parramatta Eels.
In addition, the team has signed Myles Martin, a former NSW Blues U19 representative from the Newcastle Knights, and Jake Clydsdale, an U19 representative who has been playing for the Raiders in the NSW Cup this season.
