Whitehead, who joined the Canberra Raiders at the beginning of 2016, has played 195 games (43 tries and 172 points) with the Green Machine and is the team’s captain at the moment.
But because he is nearing the end of his career and is still unsigned, he has been frequently mentioned as a possible return to the Super League in recent months.
After England’s three-Test series victory over Tonga at the conclusion of last year, the 27-time English international declared his retirement from international play.
Whitehead has signed a contract with the Catalans Dragons that will see him leave the NRL and return to the Super League, according to reporting from Jenna Brooks of Sky Sports.
Although it is known that Hull FC of the Super League was also considering hiring him, he has made the decision to rejoin his old team in the south of France.
According to what Catalans owner Bernard Guasch earlier said to L’Independant, “He is a player who has always been honest and exemplary with us, by completing his contract.”
“He recalled his pledge when we met in November 2022, at the World Cup final. I used to tell him that he could always come to our door if he wanted to. and he is free to return at any time.
