Penn State Secures Big Ten Regular Season Wrestling Title as Carter Starocci Reflects on His Final Year: “Goes By…”

Penn State Wrestling has once again asserted its dominance in the Big Ten, securing the regular season conference title in emphatic fashion.

The Nittany Lions, led by head coach Cael Sanderson, have continued their tradition of excellence, cementing their status as one of the nation’s premier wrestling programs.

Among the team’s many standout performers, senior Carter Starocci has been a cornerstone of Penn State’s success.

A multiple-time NCAA champion and one of the most decorated wrestlers in program history, Starocci has been a relentless competitor throughout his career.

As he approaches the final stretch of his collegiate journey, he has taken time to reflect on what this season means to him.

“Man, it goes by fast,” Starocci admitted. “You come in as a freshman thinking you have all the time in the world, and then suddenly, you’re in your last season. It makes you appreciate every moment.”

Starocci’s impact on Penn State wrestling cannot be overstated. Since arriving in State College, he has been a dominant force in the 174-pound weight class, consistently delivering clutch performances in high-pressure situations.

His work ethic and leadership have set a standard for his teammates, many of whom have looked up to him as a role model.

This season, Starocci has battled through adversity, including injuries and the immense pressure that comes with being a top-ranked wrestler.

Yet, he has remained unfazed, continuing to perform at an elite level. His ability to stay focused on the task at hand has been crucial in helping Penn State maintain its dominance in the Big Ten and on the national stage.

With the regular season title secured, the Nittany Lions now turn their attention to the upcoming Big Ten Championships and the NCAA Tournament.

For Starocci, the goal remains the same—finish his career on top and add another national title to his already impressive résumé.

As he prepares for his final postseason run, Starocci is embracing every moment, knowing that his time at Penn State is coming to an end.

“I just want to enjoy the ride,” he said. “I’ve put everything into this sport, and I want to go out the right way.”

With Starocci leading the charge, Penn State looks poised to continue its reign as one of college wrestling’s most dominant programs.
