Media Day with the Lady Vols basketball team means a chance to ask players several get-to-know-you questions and at least one about hoops. This 2023-24 series will continue with Kaiya Wynn.
Wynn, a 6-0 guard from Nashville, has carved out a bigger role for the Lady Vols in her third season in Knoxville. Wynn, who played her final season of high school basketball in Texas after a family move, grew up in Tennessee and always wanted to be a Lady Vol. The junior guard is majoring in kinesiology, intends to become a doctor and is the consummate teammate.
Ambition to achievement.

“Kaiya every single day give us high energy,” Tennessee Coach Kellie Harper said. “She gives us everything she’s got. Sometimes that’s underappreciated and it shouldn’t be.”
Wynn has been inserted early into games this season to provide a defensive jolt and speed on the court, whether playing the role of point guard or off the ball. She has played in 25 games and averages 5.1 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. Wynn has set career highs this season in points at 12, made free throws at six and steals at three.
Wynn fielded questions about walk-up music; track and field; favorite food as a child and now; sports hero; $10,000 to spend; late night talk show host; what she got away with as a child; mascot abilities; something she would like to be better at; and being a veteran on the team.
