Included in the budget is a record £120m for affordable housing in 2021/22, targets for which include 1443 completed homes and 1098 site starts.

A list of projects ‘legally committed to’ as April t1 his year show 2200 homes across 35 projects from more than 20 housing associations including 175 homes for social rent from Queens Cross Housing Association at Hamiltonhill and 123 for mid-market rent from the Wheatley Group as part of the Calton Village development.

Councillor Kenny McLean, city convener for neighbourhoods, housing and public realm at Glasgow City Council, said: “We welcome the funding from the Scottish Government, which will allow us and our housing association partners to deliver our Affordable Housing Investment Programme over the next five years. The £537m funding will provide much needed new affordable, energy-efficient homes for tenants, with low running costs.

“The funding will help to meet the housing supply targets set out in Glasgow’s Housing Strategy – agreed following a comprehensive Housing Needs and Demand Assessment – and will contribute to the Scottish Government’s Housing to 2040 target of 50,000 new affordable homes across Scotland by 2026/27.”
