BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Following No. 23 Indiana baseball’s 12-6 win versus Miami (Ohio) Tuesday, head coach Jeff Mercer said redshirt freshman AJ Shepard will be out for probably four-to-six or six-to-eight weeks after his left arm or wrist surgery.

During Sunday’s win over George Mason, Shepard collided with an opposing runner going for a wide throw at first base and was on the ground for several minutes. Below is a picture taken from Shepard’s social media.

Shepard didn’t play all of last season due to his second Tommy John surgery on his right arm. He was in the dugout Tuesday with a cast on his left arm. Over the weekend, Shepard started all three games in South Carolina, hit two home runs and batted 3-for-10.
