“STAN THE MAN COMES TO THE SCREEN”: Netflix and MLB Join Forces for Landmark Documentary Honoring St. Louis Cardinals Legend Stan Musial
In a monumental collaboration that blends sports history with cinematic storytelling, Netflix and Major League Baseball (MLB) have officially announced a landmark documentary project honoring St. Louis Cardinals legend Stan Musial. Titled “Stan the Man,” the film will chronicle the life, legacy, and enduring impact of one of baseball’s most iconic and beloved figures.
Stan Musial, who played his entire 22-year MLB career with the Cardinals, is widely regarded as one of the greatest hitters in baseball history. Known for his grace, humility, and unshakable work ethic, Musial was a 24-time All-Star, three-time National League MVP, and a seven-time batting champion. He finished his career with 3,630 hits, a .331 batting average, and universal respect across the sport.
Netflix executives revealed the documentary will be a feature-length film, combining rare archival footage, newly discovered personal recordings, and in-depth interviews with teammates, family members, historians, and baseball legends. MLB’s involvement will also ensure exclusive access to league archives and St. Louis Cardinals history, offering a rich and immersive experience for fans.
“Stan Musial’s story transcends baseball,” said Netflix’s Head of Sports Content, Amanda Feldman. “He was not only a dominant athlete but also a model of character, humility, and patriotism. This is a story the world needs to hear—and we’re honored to tell it.”
The film will highlight Musial’s humble beginnings in Donora, Pennsylvania, his loyalty to the Cardinals, his military service during World War II, and his remarkable post-playing career as a statesman for the game. It will also examine his impact on American culture during a transformative time in sports and society.
The Musial family expressed their excitement for the project, stating, “We’re thrilled that a new generation will get to know the man behind the legend. Stan lived by values that never go out of style—respect, hard work, and humility.”
Set for release in Spring 2026, “Stan the Man” promises to be more than a documentary—it will be a tribute to an American sports hero whose grace on and off the field still resonates today. For Cardinals fans and baseball lovers alike, this film will be a must-watch celebration of true greatness.
