The good news is that John Force has been formally appointed to succeed him….

Legend of the NHRA John Force Selects His Funny Car Replacing.

The 75-year-old Force isn’t sure when he will retire, but he does know who will succeed him.

After defeating his Funny Car teammate Austin Prock in the final round of Sunday’s NHRA New England Nationals at Epping, New Hampshire, John Force, who has won 157 times, remarked that Prock would eventually take his place once he decides to retire.

“I tend to talk a lot and say a bunch of stuff. But this young guy is going to be the one to take over for me,” said Force, 75, referring to the 28-year-old rookie driver who is currently substituting for three-time champion Robert Hight.

However, Force, the most successful driver in drag racing history, did not specify a timeline for his

retirement. He did mention, “My days are pretty much winding down. I’ve put in my time. I’m not

stepping away tomorrow. I’ll be at Bristol next weekend for the Thunder Valley Nationals. But now I’m beginning to plan for that transition.

Do you desire a winner similar to Brittany Force and Robert Hight? Austin Prock has your backing. He’ll most likely be the one to take my position,” Force said.

He promised to bring Hight back to the Funny Car class, but he gave no timeframe. Furthermore,

he mentioned that he was now working on getting a driver into a second Top Fuel dragster.

According to reports, Jordan Vandergriff has a contract with John Force Racing.
