- FAYETTEVILLE – Five Razorbacks—comprising two current players, two incoming freshmen, and one former player—are set to compete in the 124th USGA U.S. Amateur Championship, scheduled from August 12-18 in Chaska, Minn., at Hazeltine National Golf Club and Chaska Town Course.
The top 64 golfers after the stroke play rounds on August 12-13 will move on to match play at Hazeltine starting August 14.
Current Razorbacks Thomas Curry and John Daly II secured their spots by advancing through a 5-for-4 playoff at Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas on July 24. Both players shot a 2-under-par 68, and were among the 10 who qualified from Brook Hollow. Curry and Daly will begin their tournament at Chaska Town Course on Monday before playing at Hazeltine on Tuesday.
Incoming freshmen Gerardo Gomez and Erich Fortlage earned their invitations by winning separate tournaments. Gomez claimed victory at the 2024 Mexico National Amateur with a four-round total of 70-68-67-69, while Fortlage qualified by shooting a 67 at the US Amateur qualifier held at Ohio State’s Scarlet Course.
