For racing fans, this is meant to be an exciting time of year as things start to pick up speed, but Friday dealt a blow to a well-liked driver and his supporters.The death of their father, Martin Truex Sr., was confirmed by NASCAR champion Martin Truex Jr. and his brother, fellow racer Ryan Truex.

We beg for privacy at this time and appreciate everyone’s prayers and thoughts. was a former driver in the NASCAR Xfinity series, where he made 15 starts from 1989 through 1998. The site said his best finish on the track was 12th in a 1994 race at Nazareth Speedway.
The heartbreaking news brought prayers and well-wishes from fans and fellow drivers. Truex Jr., who retired from full-time racing at the end of last season, has announced that he will drive in next month’s Daytona 500.
