Celtics defeat Thunder in their 60th game to secure the NBA’s best record.
BOSTON – Prior to their Wednesday night game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Joe Mazzulla assembled his squad in the locker room and informed them of a big chance they had: a victory that night would secure the best overall record in the NBA.
They did what he instructed and ate.
With all of their might, the Celtics defeated a top-tier Western team 135-100 to guarantee themselves home-court advantage for the duration of the postseason.
Mazzulla warned the team not to take their accomplishments for granted after the game.

In the victory on Wednesday, Kristaps Porzingis, who finished with 27 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and five blocks, stated, “I think we deserved this. We worked hard all season long.” “We didn’t have a set objective in mind, but as the season progressed, we continued to perform our duties and put in a lot of effort to win games, which is how we got to this position. I believe we are worthy of it, and if we stick to our goal for ourselves, it might actually matter.
The Celtics not only gained home court advantage but also achieved a significant victory milestone with their 60th. The Celtics haven’t accomplished the feat since 2008–09, and they were the first NBA team to do it.
