With years of experience covering the Wildcats, CatsPause provides up-to-date information on the Kentucky basketball team’s roster under new head coach Mark Pope.

This offseason, first-year Kentucky basketball coach Mark Pope has adopted a new strategy from

his past practice of assembling coaching staffs made up of inexperienced assistants. Veteran

instructors Alvin Brooks II, Jason Hart, Mark Fox, and Cody Fueger were all hired by Pope. While

Fox has 18 years of experience as a college head coach, Hart has nine years in the NBA, and Brooks

has served as Baylor’s top assistant for the past eight seasons. Over the last two months, they have

been able to assemble a Kentucky basketball team from the ground up as a result of a large-scale exodus following John Calipari’s resignation.

Pope was a member of Kentucky’s 1996 national championship team, therefore he has connections

to Lexington. As the head coach of the Wildcats, he assembled his first Kentucky basketball squad

through the college basketball transfer portal, and he will now work to get them ready for the new

campaign. If you’re a die-hard Wildcat supporter or simply want to stay up to date on roster

followed Zvonimir Ivisic as the first player to follow Calipari to Arkansas. Guard Joey Hart will play

for Ball State next season, and Aaron Bradshaw signed Ohio State. D.J. Wagner, a point guard, will move to Arkansas with Calipari.

Ugonna Onyenso, Rob Dillingham, and Justin Edwards have all decided to declare for the Draft.

Tre Mitchell and Antonio Reeves, two of Kentucky’s leading scorers, graduated, meaning they won’t

be available for the upcoming year. Get up to date on all of Kentucky’s roster changes by subscribing to CatsPause.

News and roster for Kentucky basketball
Pope’s top scorer from his final season at BYU is moving with him to Lexington, having withdrew

from the NBA draft in favor of signing with Kentucky, thanks to BYU transfer Jaxson Robinson.

Robinson averaged 14.2 points per game on 42.6% shooting, good enough to earn him the title of

2023–24 Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year. Based on 247Sports rankings, he was the eighth-best small forward in the transfer portal.

Robinson joined players like Andrew Carr (Wake Forest), Brandon Garrison (Oklahoma State), and

Lamont Butler (San Diego State) as Kentucky’s seventh offseason addition via the transfer portal.

Trent Noah, Travis Perry, and Collin Chandler are the other three entering freshmen for the

Wildcats. By the summer, they will only have one scholarship seat available. Get up to date on all of Kentucky’s roster additions by subscribing to CatsPause.
